چکیده

We show, by means of a simple compilation of the available experimental results, that the p⊥-spectra obtained at RHIC and SPS are strikingly similar. In fact, the discrepancies between various experimental groups working at the same experiment are of the same size as the differences between RHIC and SPS. Our observation is complementary to the well known fact of the equality of the measured Rside and Rout HBT radii at RHIC and SPS. In essence, it points out that the transverse size of the firecylinder and the strength of the transverse flow are not significantly changed between SPS and RHIC. This suggests that a saturation mechanism is effective already at SPS. We also point out that the dominance of protons (antiprotons) over pions at large p⊥ can be seen not only in the RHIC data, but already in the SPS data.

From the particle ratios and the transverse momentum spectra of hadrons in relativistic heavy ion collisions, one can obtain chemical freeze-out temperature T ch and thermal freeze-out temperature T th through the analyses of statistical models [1]. These temperatures are usually different from each other at the AGS, SPS and RHIC energies, i.e., T ch ∼ 160-200 MeV while T th ∼ 100-140 MeV. This...

Anisotropic flow of K's, K's, and Λ's is studied in heavy ion collisions at SPS and RHIC energies within the microscopic quark-gluon string model. At SPS energy the directed flow of kaons differs considerably at midrapidity from that of antikaons, while at RHIC energy kaon and antikaon flows coincide. The change is attributed to formation of dense meson-dominated matter at RHIC, where the diffe...

The rapidity dependence of the chemical freeze-out thermal parameters T and µ B are determined at the highest RHIC and SPS energies. These show a systematic behavior towards an increase in µ B away from mid-rapidity and a corresponding decrease in the temperature T .

A simple thermal model with single freeze-out and flow is used to analyze the ratios of hadron yields and the hadron transverse-mass spectra measured in √ sNN = 130 GeV Au+Au collisions at RHIC. An overall very good agreement between the model predictions and the data is achieved for all measured hadron species including hyperons.
